Activity 1.2.1
Description:
This activity deals with the parts of the plane and their location. Conclusion Questions:
1: Planes like the "v-tail" and the "Canard" are arranged differently than most others. Power plants can also be located in the back like a "pusher." 2: Improvements such as the larger rudder of a lighter aircraft would impact an aircraft component design. |
|
Activity 1.2.2
Description:
This activity is about finding the center of an aircraft when given different amounts of weight. We Then had to find what needed to be reduced in order to make a safe flight. Conclusion Question:
1: Factors like the wight of the objects and how far away from the center of the plane will affect where the center of gravity is located. 2: Calculating the center of gravity is important to per-flight because it can help the plane's stability and assure that it is a safe flight. |

Activity 1.2.4
Description:
This activity is about calculating the pressure and temperature of atmospheric at given conditions. Conclusion Questions:
1: They have to choose materials wisely. They also have to make sure that the material can withstand the cold, and has the ability to move with ice frozen to it. 2: They have to design an aircraft that will not break under all of the pressure changes, like when the material expands. |
Activity 1.2.5
Description:
In this activity we practiced calculating the coefficient of lift based of the given scenario. Conclusion Questions:
1: Increase the area or you could lower the landing speed 2: The area of the wing 3: coefficient of lift is a very small number. |
|
activity 1.2.10
Description:
In this activity were were given specs to a glider and had to fix them so that it would make a safe reliable flight. Conclusion Questions:
1: Aft.=back/backwards 2: Understanding the schematics and how to interpret all of the numbers. 3: How to enter in a precise number. I over came that by learning that you can right-click to enter in a specific number. |
|
activity 1.2.11
Description:
In this activity were were given specs to a glider and had to fix them so that it would make a safe reliable flight. Conclusion Questions:
1: how to stabilizer a canard, and how to make sure that is has a big enough stabilizer. 2: We had to make sure the the plane stayed in canard form. |

Activity 1.3
Activity 1.3.2
Activity 1.3.3
ACTIVITY 1.3.4
Description:
In this activity we had to get planes to taxi down the runway and have all the planes line up without crashing. Conclusion Questions: 1: They need to know the speeds and how far the planes need to travel before they are in line for take-off 2: They could be improved by some sensors to the runway that automatically seed up or slow down the plane so that all the planes will be able to take off in a safe and time efficient matter. |
Activity 2.1
Description:
In this activity we were exploring the different properties of materials. We were using an internet site to test each of the properties through a variety of tests. Conclusion Questions: 1: it helps make sure that it is strong enough to withstand all the g force against it. 2: For future designers/Engineers to know what materials to use. |
